Bordered to the north by Halls Bay and to the south by Crescent Lake, the town has a motel and night club, two restaurants and a service station. There are salmon rivers nearby as well as abundant wildlife. Fish for the mighty Atlantic Salmon on the scenic Tommy′s Arm River.

Hiking

The Hazelnut Adventure Hiking Trail rounds the end of Crescent Lake starting at the highway, crossing the narrows and winding back to the town across Tommys Arm River for a total length of 10 Km. Old birch, maple and aspens line the trails that include wooden bridges, boardwalks, picnic areas and lookouts.

Boating

Three boat tours are available locally offering everything from larger vessels with luxury cabin accomodations to smaller cruisers and kayaks.

Visit the other communities in our area. Take a 4 minute ferry ride to Long Island. Visit the Heritage Center and learn the history of the old mining town of Pilley′s Island. A great home base, we are just 1 1/2 hours drive to either Deer Lake or Grand Falls- Windsor and approximately half-way between Port aux Basques and St. John′s. Follow Route 380 and turn right at the first driveway by the service station. We are about 1 hour from Nfld.′s largest underground salmon viewing window, which is also close to three popular museums, including the Mary March, and Logger′s museums. We′re two hours from a UNESCO archeological Indian site, a miner′s museum, and only four hours from two fjiord sites.
